Investigation on 4 large fuel oil companies will affect the industry

Fuel sector in Turkey is experiencing a difficult period. The increasing crude oil and exchange rate pressure on the one hand, and the Competition Authority (RK) on the other hand, the investigation by 4 large companies (BP, Shell & Turcas, Petrol Ofisi, Opet) for the fuel sector make the job of the sector difficult. Particularly, the result of a competition investigation into 4 large companies of the sector is closely related to the future of the sector. The sector is waiting for the results of the investigations.

The Competition Authority decided last week to initiate an investigation into these companies by deciding on the preliminary inquiry carried out on the application that claims that BP, OPET, Petrol Ofisi and Shell & Turcas have violated article 4 of the Law No. 4054 with their applications to their dealers.

The investigative article contains a violation of the Uyumlu Competition-limiting Agreement, Compliant Actions and Decisions ’in the market of companies.
