Construction of Unit 1 of Akkuyu, Türkiye's first nuclear power plant, has been completed.
Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom-the company building Akkuyu-made a statement regarding the matter: “We officially confirm the completion of construction works. Cold hydrostatic testing of the reactor began overnight, and these operations are scheduled to conclude within the next few weeks. Following that, only a few weeks will remain before commissioning operations begin. The workforce for Unit 1 consists of 1,930 people; citizens of the Republic of Türkiye make up more than 40 percent of these specialists.”
