A newly-opened oil refinery has elevated Turkey as one of the leading countries of the world in refinery sector. The star refinery in İzmir has 10 million tons of crude processing capacity per year. TÜPRAŞ is the indisputable leader in the domestic sector as it boasts with an annual capacity of 28.1 million tons. Combined, these two prominent actors handle over 38 million tons a year, which covers almost all domestic refinery needs as the country is importing nearly 40 million tons of crude.(ee)
