'Turkey will rank top in Europe in hydropower installations in 2020 too: Turkey is expected to add a new hydropower capacity of more than 2 000 MW (upon the completion of several HEPPs inc. Ilısu of 1 200 MW) in 2020, so that Turkey will maintain its lead in Europe in hydropower capacity increases. Hydropower constituted 29.5 % of the country’s electricity consumption last year. In 2019, a total of 88.641 billion kWh of electricity was generated by the hydroelectric power plants.

Hydropower share in the monthly electricity generation was 20.5 % in January 2020 and is about 27 % in February 2020 as of today.'
