Turkey's first and only Class National Park

The reproduction season has started in the Bird Sanctuary National Park, Turkey's first and only national park with the Class A certification. The sanctuary, also known as the Bird Paradise in Manyas, is under the protection of the General Directorate of the Nature Protection and National Parks (DCM) of the Forestry and Water Affairs Ministry.

About 70 different bird species flock to the Bird Paradise for reproduction. Located within the borders of Bandırma and Manyas districts of the Balıkesir province, the sanctuary was awarded with a Class A Diploma in 1976 by the Council of Europe.
