The increase in renewable based electricity generation reduces the energy import bill in Turkey

'The increase in renewable based electricity generation reduces the energy import bill in Turkey.

Turkey's 262 billion kWh of renewable electricity generation in last two years prevented energy imports amounting about 12 billion $.

The amount paid to energy imports reduced in 2020: While Turkey paid 43 billion $ in 2018 and 41.1 billion $ in 2019 for energy imports, energy import bill reduced below 30 billion $ in 2020.

The increase in renewable based electricity generation reduces the energy import bill in Turkey: Renewable-sourced electricity generation, which was below 100 billion kWh in 2018, realised as about 133 billion kWh and 129 billion kWh in 2019 and 2020 respectively and thus the renewable electricity generation in last two years prevented energy imports amounting about 12 billion $.'
