Akkuyu Nuclear's 2nd Unit Reactor Pressure Vessel Sent to Turkey!


The reactor pressure vessel produced for the second unit of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) was sent to Turkey.
Rosatom: It was set out from the Izhorsk Fabrikaları Kamu A.Ş field to Turkey by AEM Technologies A.Ş., which is a part of Atomenergomash A.Ş, the machine building division of Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.


AKKUYU NUCLEAR - COMPANY'S HISTORY

On May 12, 2010, the Agreement “On Cooperation in the Construction and Operation of a Nuclear Power Plant at the Akkuyu Site in the Republic of Turkey” was signed between the Governments of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

In accordance with this agreement, the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom is to build in Turkey a nuclear power plant including four power units with VVER-1200 reactors with a total capacity of 4,800 MW under BOO conditions (Build - Own - Operate). In December 2010, in order to implement the project, AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC was set up in Turkey,Ankara.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC's stakeholders are companies authorized by the relevant Order of the Government of the Russian Federation:

Under the terms of the Agreement, the Russian side reserves the right to sell a project share of not more than 49% to other investors. It can be either one investor for all 49% or a smaller share, or several entities. A prerequisite for investors to enter the project is their approval by the Turkish side as provided by the IGA on the project.
