Dr Fatih Birol, President of International Energy Agency (IEA): "In 2000, 1.6 billion people had not access to energy. Today the number has dropped by 1 billion. This is a huge success. China and India have solved this problem. Nevertheless, we are far from our goals. Now we have to focus on sub-Saharan countries. Two out of every three people in this geography have no access to electricity. In 2030, there will still be no more than 600 million people in the world. " Birol made this statement in the UN.
